Halloween Edition 2014 Pt. II

Halloween is still undergoing, and I have one more costume to share with you all. Ok, in the previous post I asked you to guess what costume I had designed. I gave you two hints: she is a Disney Princess and she’s an ice princess. Well it’s no other than Elsa from Frozen. It seems as though this year Elsa is the number one Halloween costume requested amongst lil girls, every ad seems to have her in the front cover! Good thing my little customer will not be wearing a store bought Elsa and look like the rest of the little Elsa’s lol she’ll be wearing a custom design setting her apart from them.

If you don’t know who Elsa is here is a picture of her.
For this design I had to look closely at the details that make up her dress. She has a sweetheart bodice, with a v waist line, and semi fitted skirt. Her dress also has sheer sleeves, neckline yoke, and a cape which are covered in sparkles and snowflakes.

Work in progress

For this costume I used three different fabrics to get the same look. …

Halloweend Edition 2014 Pt. I

It’s that time again, Halloween edition 2014. I’ve been a busy bee lately. This year I had a head start on Halloween costumes. I was contacted by last year’s mom to make her daughter’s costume again. This is awesome because she loved last year’s costumes and her daughter received many compliments. It always makes me happy to know people out there appreciate my work. So this year I made not one but two costumes for her daughter.

Costume number one is based on Maleficent, Princess Aurora! She wanted the “gold” dress the one where she gets crowned in. Here is a picture I found online to give me an idea. From studying the design it seems as though the silhouette is from the 1900’s. The bodice consist of a semi square neckline, princess seams, and decorative trim around the neckline, waist and sleeve. The skirt has two pleats and the dress is not too full.

Taking what I analyzed from the original design I tried to interpret my way by adding my own twist. So I just kept it simple with the …

Last Minute Halloween Costume Options

Happy Friday Darlings, Halloween is fast approaching. What will you be? Don’t have time to go shopping or simply on a budget? Well don’t worry I got you! Did you know that you can go shopping in your closet? Well if you didn’t know now you know lol. I’ll be sharing with you some simple ideas that you can put together using your everyday wardrobe and a few accessories.
First off we have “Where’s Waldo?” All you need are blue denim jeans, a red and white sweater. For the accessories all you need are some black glasses and a red beanie. This costume will be comfy, cute, and funny.

Another great option is the Morton Salt Girl. With a cute yellow summer dress, accessorized in Mary Janes with socks, and a black umbrella if you can’t find a purple one. I think this one is cute and creative.

Okay ladies this one is super easy. I know you all own a little black dress, but if you have a long black dress even better. Breakfast at Tiffany all you need is your LBD, black shoes, pearl necklace, g…

Oooh La La in Paris! Fashion Illustration

Good morning gorgeous. Happy Flash Back Friday Fashion Illustration! For this collection my instructor said we could either make a Holiday collection or any other type of collection. Well what do you know I really wanted a sexy collection I thought of Victoria Secrete as inspiration. This was going to be my lingerie collection entitled “Oooh La La in Paris.” This collection is by far my favorite! I was really inspired I had a vision. For this collection the fabrics I used were silk, sheer fabric, and lace. The color palette was black and white.

The back story: when I think of Paris I think about how exotic it must be and how it is known to be a romantic place to be. So with that said I decided one night in Paris with your significant other! I wanted the lingerie to be unique and sexy. The poses are flirty and give off a pin up style vibe.

Design number one: we will call her Rapunzel, since her hair is blonde and super long. She is wearing a corset night gown, the feathers underneath …

Katy Perry Fashion Illustration

Happy Friday fashionistas, let’s get started with “Flash Back Friday Fashion Illustration.” For this collection my instructor said to choose a celebrity whom we would love to design for. At the time Katy Perry was pretty popular and I felt like my design aesthetic was perfect for her. She is known for her colorful, extravagant costumes, and pin up looks. I wanted to still keep her in bright colors and fun silhouettes. I noticed that at the time she would always wear the sweetheart neckline; therefore I tried to give her different necklines. The fabric choices were silks, tulle, sheer, and denim. The color pallet consisted of purple, pink, green, and yellow. I decided to go with prints to make her outfits pop out.
The back story: Katy Perry is on tour, she needs different outfits throughout her performance. She starts with a semi casual look, transitions to a more jaw dropping look, and ends with the extravagant gown.
Design number one: ok so I did design a sweetheart shape top, that’…

Fall Fashion Illustration

Happy Friday everyone, here’s another edition of “Flash Back Friday Fashion Illustration.” This is my fall collection, coincidentally just in time for the fall season! For this collection my inspiration was JLo, specifically the music video “All I have.” I really gravitated from her hairstyle and the make-up. Again I really wanted to incorporate separates. The fabrics I chose were velvet, polyester, tulle. The color pallet was soft pink, soft blue, browns, and gold.

The backstory: my girl is in her mid-20, she doesn’t let the chilly weather stop her from wearing her miniskirts. Design number one: she’s wearing a velvet short puffy sleeve keyhole top with a pleated skirt. The skirt has suspenders and tulle underneath to give volume to the shape of the skirt. Her top is a turtle neck with an attached scarf. Her accessories include long gloves, knee high socks, paired with ankle booties. I decided to do the hair and make-up like JLo’s music video.

Design number two: she’s also wearing a…

Summer Fashion Illustration

Hey ladies and gents, ya’ll know what today is, Flash Back Friday Fashion Illustration! This is my summer collection; I noticed I tend to do dresses a lot so for this collection I decided to incorporate separates. For the inspiration our instructor told us to choose a current designer as inspiration I can't remember who I chose as inspiration. I just remember the designers collection was young and fun filled with color and that's what inspired my summer collection.

For this collection I wanted to explore different fabrics and textures. The fabrics I chose were chiffon, jacquard, silk dupioni, and corduroy. The back story: My girl is young early 20’s, she isn’t afraid of loud colors or print. You can call her a modern clueless if you will. She loves bows and is a super girlie girl.

Design number one, we will call her the “Blue Gal”, she is wearing a flouncy tube top with straps that tie in the back creating an exaggerated bow. The skirt is a cross between pencil skirt/bubble sk…

Spring Fashion Illustration

Hey fashionistas, here is the second collection for this mini-series Flash Back Friday Fashion Illustrations. This collection is for spring, I was inspired by graphic fairies. The fabrics consisted of lightweight chiffons to give off a romantic vibe. The color pallet is purples, green, pink, and blue. They are all dresses, because I felt that spring is the perfect time for dresses.

The backstory of my spring collection: my girl is a fairy who lives in a beautiful garden. Since the garden is full of greens and colorful flowers, her dresses are also green and colorful giving her the ability to blend in whenever she feels like she’s in danger. Since she flies from place to place her dresses have to be lightweight. The first dress is purple chiffon, with the skirt having under layers of blue and pink. The straps are rope like twisting towards the back shoulders. I styled her with what I thought was fairy like hair, and the make-up was dramatic with swirls. The accessories were very mini…

Resort Fashion Illustration

Happy Friday Fashionistas, as most of you may know I've mentioned that I do illustrations; these illustrations are mostly fashion illustrations. Being that it is Friday I will start posting my past Illustrations here on my blog for Flash Back Friday from here out now.

I took fashion illustration back in 2009 and created cohesive mini collections based on several themes; in the end I had a portfolio full of illustrations. Today I've decided they are worth sharing :-) hope you enjoy this mini-series every Friday.

Ok so lets' get started. This first illustration is a resort collection. The collection had to include a bathing suit and lightweight materials to be carried in a luggage. The backstory of this collection: my girl would be going on a cruise and enjoying the waves in her bathing suit. She had a small luggage where she packed her lightweight outfits and had no room for an iron lol. Because the weather would be a bit warm the fabrics would consist of thin knit, chiffon…

I'm still alive!

Happy Friday fashionistas! So the blog has been a bit slow, I confess I'm not the best blogger out here, still pretty new to this so bare with me. I'm trying to improve on it, I promise. I'm still here doing a few things related to fashion, illustration, sewing, and pattern drafting. Plus I have lots of personal and comission projects I'm currently working on which I'm excited to share and talk about in future post. Some which include Halloween Costumes, yes I know it's a bit early but better early than later right! You can catch more of me on Instagram, usually upload pictures up there before here so if you want to be in the know follow me on social media, all links are on the side bar. For now I just wanted to stop by and say hi and I shall be back soon with an exciting post! Have a lovely weekend.

Drafting & Cutting

So I have all these beautiful fabrics, what to do what to do with them? I would like to give you a glimpse on what I'm currently working on. I had drafted this little number a while back.
I'm thinking  this would look great in the black dot jacquard I recently purchased. This would be the ultimate little black dress. Business in the front party in the back. Can't wait to unvile the final product. For now I leave you with a picture.

Fabric Shopping

Hello darlings, if you follow me on any social media you probably know what I've been up to if not then I will tell you. So I've been indulging in some fabric shopping. I'm very excited about them because they are fun and unique. I bought a green tribal print it is very fun love the mix of colors because it gives you options. I also purchased some black dot jacquard; it is so elegant I can already envision a little black dress. Of course I am a huge fan of lace and I found both ivory and teal lace (it is really hard to find good colored quality lace so I’m happy with my findings.) Lastly I got a sheer ivory with black polka dots fabric. Now that I have my fabrics I’m ready to start my new designs. Stay tune for the final products. If you would like to get more behind the scenes & know what I’m up to follow me on social media.

Tunic Top DIY + Pattern Review 2147

I’m over joy about being a mommy; however one of the biggest challenges has been finding nice, fashion forward maternity clothes or maternity clothes in general. I’ve been a bit hesitant about making my own clothes simply because I didn’t want to invest the time nor the money sewing something that I would only wear for just a while. However I so happened to have a free day, a pattern that worked great as a maternity top and I had the perfect knit print fabric in my stash just screaming to be cut and sewn.

The pattern I used was Simplicity 2147 it was perfect as a maternity top or dress because the design was loose giving enough room to my ever growing belly. Originally I wanted to make it into a dress, but I ended up not having enough fabric so I had to compromise with a tunic. I went with view B for short sleeves, and view C for the length. I really loved the simplicity of the top with it pleats on the front and back. Using a print fabric took this basic tunic to another level. It on…

My Wedding

As you know this past June I got married to the love of my life!! Our wedding day was magical, and beautiful I was the happiest bride ever. Although, it took a lot of planning and a lot of DIY projects at the end it was well worth it. I enjoyed every minute of it and I would not change a thing! Some of the DIY projects included; ring bearer pillow, flower baskets, invitations, sash, groom’s handkerchief, cupcake stand and my veil. My sister took on the most complicated DIY project my bouquet, this was no ordinary bouquet. She made the most beautiful broach bouquet, thank you sis!! I will forever treasure it.

Our wedding pallet consisted of blush, dark gray, and sliver.
The ring bearer pillow was a piece of cake; I drafted a simple square pattern. I bought this iridescent pink/dark grey fabric, which had diamonds pleats integrated. I added ribbon and a small broach to make it pretty and so it could be cohesive with the flower girls baskets, and broach bouquet.

Its A...

Hey everyone sorry for my absence, I’ve been neglecting the blog. My mind has been all over the place this year. I haven’t really done much fashion designing this past year. Why? Don’t worry is not what you think….(your thinking I’ve lost interest) well no I love fashion it’s my passion and I have big dreams.
So what has happened then? Well let’s just say I do have a personal life aside from fashion. This past June I got married to the love of my life!! There was a lot of wedding planning involved and I decided to do a few things myself. Some which included; ring bearer pillow, flower baskets, invitations, sash, and my veil. My sister made the most beautiful broach bouquet, I will forever treasure it. I’ll share some pictures with you. The wedding was perfect just like I had envisioned it, so romantic so beautiful.

A month later…we found out we were pregnant!!! We were filled with joy to know that soon we would have our first baby. All I could think about was my baby and I just wanted…
