Señorita Dress

Happy Cinco de Mayo everyone!! Today I'll be sharing a special dress I made last year for my shop.
It was inspired by my Mexican roots and an often worn accessory the sarape. This is by far my favorite design! I instantly fell in love with the fabric from the moment I laid eyes on it. The fabric was so festive and bright it made me feel happy inside.

When designing the Señorita dress I wanted to do a lot of fabric manipulation. For the Bodice I played with directional lines, creating a chevron effect. I think matching the lines right was crucial otherwise it would have looked so wrong. When cutting out the pieces I had to cut one piece first and do line matching making sure they would be mirrored. It was time consuming but well worth taking my time. The bodice was fully lined with a light blue lining.
I knew I wanted a showstopper for the back, I went for a back cut out. As you can tell by now I love having fun back details on my designs. For the back I had mirrored vertical lines with two cute wooden buttons. The wooden buttons added a great touch to the back of the dress.

For the skirt, I decided to have the lines go horizontal so that they would stand out once it was pleated. I did a blind hem to keep the stiches hidden and added an invisible zipper. I really loved the way this little dress came out.

I had lovely Julia model the Señorita dress. She looked so gorgeous in my dress. Seeing the complete look on her was an amazing feeling. Here are some pictures of her modeling the dress!! Hope you loved this design as much as I do.

Women's Watches: Where to Shop for Unique Timepieces

Tick tock, tick tock. Time is slowly creeping up and I'm making sure to make the most out of it. As a mommy of two, I stop and stare at my two beautiful daughters I began to reminisce on the day they were both born. Oh such tiny little babies they were and all I can think is poof they've grown in a blink of an eye. I am soaking up every moment and making memories with them because I want them to always remember all the good TIMES we've experienced. Thanks to JORD on my wrist, it is a daily reminder to cherish my precious time. JORD is based in St. Louis.
